This weekend Croatia held it's annual "Noc Muzeja" or Night of the Museums. Over 70 cities throughout the country (Split included of course!) open the doors of their museums and galleries from 6pm - 1am hosting special exhibitions and giving tours....for free. A great idea don't you think Vancouver??
From the 12 options in Split we had a chance to visit 5 of the most historic & well-known galleries & museums.
The lights throughout the old town and crowds of people shuffling through Diocletian's ancient, narrow, cobbled streets created a little spark of magic in the air.
- Archeological Museum
- Ethnographic Museum (highly recommend just for the design of the space - history meets modernism)
- Split Art Gallery (gorgeous space, converted from an old private hospital, varied collections primarily oil on canvas)
- The City Museum in Split
- Gallery of Emanuel Vidovic (incredible photography based in Split and Prague dating back to early '30s)

A perfect winter evening.
