Freshly caught fish right from the Adriatic and sold at a very loud & very fishy - fish market, or peskarija as the Dalmatians say.
Cleaned, salted and grilled over hot coals in a traditional brick oven.
Served bathed in home-made olive oil and sprinkled with parsley (freshly picked from the garden - or like today, dug out from under the snow!) and with finely chopped garlic.
Accompanied by a glass of wine and freshly baked bread this is not only our favourite dish, but what most Dalmatians eat and is an absolute must try for all non-vegan and non-vegetarians. A tip: It's best when it's made by a local.
There's a catchy little saying I quite like they say here on the coast:
"A fish bathes three times: first in the sea, then in olive oil and last in wine".
Indeed it did.
