We are taking a bit of a break, and relaxing in Vancouver focusing on the day-to-day things that need doing, and the ones that we love doing. But, as always, we are also in the progress of planning a new trip! Two actually! One is for this long Easter weekend -> getting back to simplicity and out in nature for a few days. And a bit further, but still on the horizon - in September - to our beloved Split in Croatia.
September in Croatia is commonly called "Bablje Ljeto". Maybe some of you have heard this before?
In Croatia people use this expression for the early fall because September signifies the start of the school year, people returning from summer holidays & back to work routines, less & less tourists all returning home....much like autumn in the Northern Hemisphere worldwide. But in Croatia, this is a special time in Dalmatia, on the Adriatic Coast it is still nice and warm, people are still swimming and enjoying their days at the beach....and we call that "Bablje Ljeto".
The summer is extended! And what do we call that?
September in Dalmatia is "Odmor za dusu i tilo", or "A rest for the body & soul".
And how could it not be with views & days like these:
And just last week, the Financial Times featured a list by infamous Unesco of the top 10 world heritage sites -> guess what city is #1??? SPLIT! :)
Here's the link (scroll down to the bottom for the ratings!)
And the article in Croatia's online paper, Danas, this morning.
