April is coming to an end, May is just around the corner and in Split this means that the summer season is starting on the Adriatic Coast!!
The summer brings many tourists and this also means that there are a lot of events coming up in Split and throughout Croatia. Cultural, sporting, historical reenactments, music festivals, celebrations, "Pirate Evenings"....just to name a few! The cafe patios and outdoor clubs open their doors to the start of one long party for young locals and visitors. There is only one thing on everyone's mind.....that this season is long and hot like each summer before it!

The kick-off event is on right now down at Split's Riva -> the Croatia Boat Show, gaining popularity each year! Running from April 17th to the 22nd the marinas along the promenade outlining Diocletian's walls are full of beautiful boats of all shapes, lengths, finishes and waving flags from around the world. Take a sneak peak for yourself here!
Fresh pictures are coming soon, they are still on their way to us in Canada :) !!!
Right after the Croatia Boat Show Split will be celebrating St. Duje, the cathedral in the heart of Diocletian's palace, a famous sight seen from many spots all over the city. St. Duje is the protector of the town of Split! On this day, May 7th, Split celebrates 1700 years of life; 1700 years from the start of the town, the day Diocletian built his palace. These are the pictures from last year, but for sure we will make update for this year with new pictures!
These events are something extraordinary to see, to take part in. They are special events for Split's locals, to everyone who comes from Split, who is connected to the city and who grew up or has grown to love it.
We highly recommend if you have plans for a summer vacation to head down to the Adriatic Coast and visit one of the many seaside towns or islands. All full of cultural events, friendly locals and tasty delicacies, not to mention the stunning views!

Two olive trees & a beautiful view of the Adriatic. Notice how you can see the clear bottom from the top of the hill! So blue and clean! |
A view of the Adriatic from the top of Mount Biokovo, just outside of Makarska |
Our favourite view of Podstrana, a town just outside of Split, from our boat |
