Monday May 7th is an important day in Split - the celebration of Saint Domnius (Sveti Duje). As you might recall from a post a few days back, St. Duje is the protector of the town of Split! On this day, May 7th,
Split celebrates 1700 years of life; 1700 years from the start of the
town, the day Diocletian built his palace.
Today we've shared updated pictures from Monday's celebration.
The weather, entertainment & vendors did not disappoint this year with people flocking down to the promenade to take part in this year's celebration. With local flavours of honey, jams, marmalade and freshly prepared foods to local landmarks made in consumer-friendly form (like Grgur Ninski picture above) to local sounds of various musicians & bands entertaining the crowds. What more can one ask for on a sunny Monday on the Adriatic Coast?
