Complete with a multitude of events the promenade and old city overflows with people in authentic toga outfits dating back to the beginning of Split when Diocletian first built his palace and the walls that still remain today. Locals contribute to the fun by dressing up and participating in the market, strolling the streets of old town and enjoying the food and music.
And of course what would the days of Diocletian be without Diocletian himself making an appearance in the old square outside Sv. Duje - just in time to take in some Gladiators duelling.
A fantastic way to begin the end of summer!
