 HVAR

If you are planning a trip to Croatia, and love to taste local flavours we highly recommend a long-time traditional Dalmatian restaurant, Levanda-Vidikovac. The restaurant is located on the popular island of Hvar! Why? Oh just because it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The landscape and water are crystal-clear-clean, there are tons of sites and places to visit, both private and public beaches to swim at and soak up the sun. The oldest theater in all of Europe is in Hvar town on the island of Hvar and it is a sight not to be missed!

Of course, like many Croatian towns & cities there are many great restaurants and Hvar is famous for its nightlife and selection of bars and clubs for party lovers!  The most famous club widely known in Europe and to the locals is Carpe Diem offering a wide selection of drinks, music and often in the summer months, celebrity sightings.  If you're looking for something a bit less mainstream, just down the promenade is a club famous for its Silent Parties.  You wear a pair of headphones and choose one of the offered channels, anything from hip-hop, top 40s to techno and dance to your favourite beats on the dance floor.

But if your passion for great food and local delicacies guides you through Croatia, Levanda-Vidikovac is not to be missed.  Peaceful and private it sits at the top of the island halfway between the town of Hvar and town of Stari Grad, with panoramic views of all 4 sides of the island.  It's only 10kms from the town of Hvar, and a great stop if you're renting a scooter or a pastel coloured&restored classic car turned convertible (the latest fad on the island) to get a glimpse at the smaller villages and other beaches on the island.  The quality of the food and service far exceeds dining standards and has a long history of regulars always stopping in when vacationing on the island from around the world.  Levanda-Vidikovac was ranked as one of the best restaurants on Hvar and given a 5/5 rating with a 2 page review in Italy's biggest tourism magazine, Tuttoturismo.  Another great spot to see some famous Croatian personalities dining, especially during the July & August months.

If you travel to Hvar and head over to Levanda-Vidikovac, just ask any local on Hvar either by the name or by the owner, Jozo Juric who has been running the restaurant for over 30 years.  Many locals might also share what else he's famous for.....getting struck by lightning 20 years ago and living to tell the tale! And of course you can always contact us!

Most tourists either visit or travel through Split at one point or another.  One of the 3 biggest coastal towns with an airport, Split is the gateway to ferries and highways linking you to the rest of Croatia.

Ivan having been born and grown up in Split, we have spent much time here!  You can check out more details throughout our posts (just click the Split category).

If this if your first, or one of many, trips to Split and you're looking for some accommodations, restaurant recommendations or something to do that hasn't yet made it into the mass produced tourist guides shoot us an e-mail and we can recommend a number of apartment, suite and hostels in the city and just outside, spots to dine and exciting less-busy & less-tourist filled things to do.

 ZADAR

The 4th most populated city in Croatia, the art and core of this city are something else.  Also famous for dining options, this city is a special treat for those wanting their trip to be a gastronomic experience.
Just 5km outside of Zadar is the town of Bibinje.  With some incredible beaches and cafes right on the water, there are numerous suites and apartments for a better deal.  A nice destination for a family holiday, or those looking to spend some time relaxing and enjoying a few peaceful days seaside. With Zadar being a quick 10minute trip away, days of shopping & cafes and  evenings dining & dancing are convenient.
