The mountainous region between the Dalmatian Coast and the central core of Croatia, Lika is famous for its clean air, beautiful landscapes, harsh winters and beautiful Plitvice Lakes National Park.
The people are friendly & hard-working, the nature is absolutely remarkable & largely untouched, the Plitvice Lakes are breath-taking and tourism is exponentially growing. From hiking to biking to dining to boat tours & waterfall vistas.....all within an hour's drive from the capital of Zagreb or coastal Zadar. The numerous guest-houses and hotels make it a perfect destination for a weekend escape or even weeks of relaxation.
Only when you drive along the windy & narrow roads......breathe in the refreshing clean air......hike around the majestic 16 lakes of Plitvice......drink some Sljivovica & eat some pecenje (and in that order!) do you start to appreciate the beginning of what Lika has to offer. 
This exquisite county will always hold a special place in my heart.
